HDFC ATM Usability issue
I have been wondering about the usability of the ATMs most of the time. This is one classical case. I was using this HDFC ATM at my office and found that the order of the decision buttons 'YES' and 'NO' is ad hoc. When you wish to withdraw cash, it asks the following question 1. Do you want print receipt? [No] [Yes] And the order of the buttons reverses when you plan to quit after the next transaction as shown below 2. Do you want to do another transaction? [Yes] [No] This definitely breaks the user's mental model and they err many times (atleast I do). But the whole reason behind this as per my assumption was: They dont want users to print receipts. Hence they purposefully WANT USERS TO ERR and press the No button by default. So that they can save on the printing costs :)
