Dont Bug me - Windows

I start the day with a fresh enthusiasm to get things done fast and learn more. And ..... there pops this message. The automatic update feature is great. But the way it bugs the user randomly is really a pricky itch! I cannot snooze it to remind me after a certain time interval. Someone in Microsoft listening?

INDEX - useful products for the new world

Great designers of the world culminate at many places every year. But this one is an interesting meet where designers get together to help change the way we live. It happens once every 2 years and believe me it has the highest price money - five 100,000 € prizes.....hold ur breath... http://www.index2005.dk/ And the winner for this year is Lifestraw - a great product that can turn any water into potable and its just the size of a big injection! Learn more about the winning entry. Its development, design and how it is being used.

Design Patterns

Design Patterns A pattern is a design rule that communicates insight into a design problem, capturing the essence of the problem and its solution in a compact form. Design patterns form a language, or a common vocabulary that allows articulation of an infinite variety of web designs. Patterns are a powerful conceptual framework for building compelling and effective web sites that are easy to use - (Courtesy -'Design of Sites') Welie: This is a good website with lots of good design patterns well categorised based on UI problems and solutions. Nice resource for anyone looking for design patterns, principles for weaving a good customer web experience. As more and more portlets, portals, web apps emerge its high time the Developer -Designer divide is wiped out. And patterns are one great way to make the developers, designers, to be on the same page and aim at a common goal - the customer. Have a look for yourself - http://www.welie.com Martijn van Welie, the owner of the site it dutch and a PhD in UI Design. He has been maintaining and updating the site with quality stuff. Need to learn more on patterns? You can find some good reference links from the Literature and Links page. Also see if you can buy this great book - The Design of Sites - Raj
